“Children” in God’s Family

This is the final entry in our series of metaphors and illustrations that help us to understand what it means to be a "Member" of the Lord's Church. 1John 3:1-2 highlights what a tremendous blessing it is to be part of God's family. The lesson specifically examines some of the benefits of the physical family as God instituted it, and then compares these same blessings to those found in His spiritual family. Finally, the sermon compares and contrasts the physical and spiritual family in three areas: Access, Trust, and Support.

About the Church of Christ

The Southside Church of Christ family is a group of people who are striving to learn, understand, and live what God's Word teaches. We want to be New Testament Christians- nothing more, and certainly nothing less.

We call ourselves a "Church of Christ" for several reasons:

We seek to be the Church according to His teaching, therefore we belong to Him;
It is a scriptural name by which saints in the New Testament were called [Romans 16:16]; and,
It hopefully identifies us to others as people who are trying to be the non-denominational Church which Jesus Christ purchased with his blood [Acts 20:28].
