“Naked And Not Ashamed”

Modesty is a topic that certainly needs to be addressed.  But like all topics, it needs to be addressed fairly and accurately from the Bible- being careful to neither ignore relevant teaching, nor bind where God has not bound.  Almost all of the world, and far too much of the church seem to fit into the description of the title of this outline, "Naked And Not Ashamed".  It should be noted that this lesson is first of two or three lessons.

Modesty: Can the OT provide us with a standard?

The importance and benefit of biblical "standards" that detail the requirements God has for us is easily discernible.  The question, with regard to the subject of modesty, is whether or not God's word provides us with definite standards for determining what is and is not modest.  Some brethren have sought for such a standard within O.T. passages.  This lesson examines these passages in an effort to determine whether or not such is appropriate.

Modesty Considerations

In our past two lessons on this subject ("Naked and Not Ashamed" and "Modesty: Can the OT Provide the Standard?"), we took a look at the Greek term kosmios, translated as our word "modesty", in both of the NT passages in which it is found with regard to its meaning and application; and we examined the importance of biblical "standards" as well as various OT passages that have been used in an effort to establish one for what is and is not modest.  In this concluding lesson (for now at least), we'll try to wrap up the subject with a few final considerations.
