A “Good-Hearted” Man
Posted by Philip Strong | Categories: Family, Marriage God's Way, Ephesians, 1 Peter
A song recently captured my attention when it extolled the virtues of "A Good-Hearted Man" (by Tift Merritt). It was so different than most lyrics of modern music, and much of older music too. I liked the tune, but the words that I could remember, after hearing it just once, stuck in my mind. So I looked up the lyrics, and was even more impressed. They seemed to echo the biblical picture of the development of appreciation of character into love, and in turn into true commitment and appreciation in marriage. Thus the words of the song wound up being the introduction to this lesson which entails: 1) what young ladies should look for in a potential mate; 2) what young men should strive to be as a man, and a husband; 3) what married women should appreciate their husbands, or help to create in them if it is not already there; and 4) the character of a "good heart" that a married man should be able to give to his wife.
