Understanding Sin
Posted by Philip Strong | Categories: Choices, Salvation, Romans, 1 John
"Sin" is rapidly become a lost word to the vocabulary of our current religious world. It is being replaced with "mistakes" or "errors of judgment" in a deliberate effort to soften the sound and lessen the perceived consequences of it. Sin still exists! In fact, it exists in rampant proportions. Since it does exist, and its wages are still death, (Rom.6:23), then it behooves us to try to understand "sin" so that we may be better equipped to avoid and/or deal with it in an acceptable way.
Marriage God’s Way, Part 6: Hindrances to Succesful Marriage
Posted by Philip Strong | Categories: Choices, Commitment, Fidelity, Growth, Marriage God's Way, Proverbs, Matthew, Philippians, 1 Peter, 1 John
Biblical love, as the proper foundation of marriage, must be supported by character, maturity, independence, suitable dispositions, and common interests (lesson #5) to be successful- pleasing to God and us. But marriage also has its detractors- those things which hinder love, even biblical love, from being able to properly support it. This lesson identifies, describes, and seeks to provide remedies for some of the most common hindrances to successful marriage.
Light vs. Dark: Where are you “walking”?

This lesson is not about what part of the chicken you prefer to eat. It is about the struggle between good and evil. While this war may have raged before God created us, the reality of it for us began in Eden and continues even to the present. Each of us takes part in this epic conflict. We must choose with which side we will ally ourselves: the Light, or the Dark.
Sin, and What To Do About It
Posted by Philip Strong | Categories: Baptism, Obedience, Repentance, Acts, Romans, 1 John
This very basic lesson deals with the fundamental questions of "What is sin?" and "How do we sin?", but also addresses the more probing query of "Why do we sin?". There are really only three reasons, and these, once identified, can be positively addressed in a productive way to enable spiritual growth and maturity.
Choices

Though three choices were presented by Joshua to the people in his farewell address of Joshua 24:15, in actuality, there were only two. Either they could join he and his house to serve the Lord, or they could choose to serve idols- which one(s) in particular really didn't, and don't, matter. From this great text, three main points are drawn in this lesson: 1) A choice must be made; 2) Each must make it themselves; and 3) It must be made daily, even down to the hours, minutes, and seconds.
